A round badge constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse center bears a five-pointed star on a red enamel medallion, encompassed by a cog on one side and a sheaf of rice on the other, below is an open book on foliage with a red enamel banner inscribed with VIET NAM, and a border around the obverse inscribed at the top with HU N CHƯƠNG LAO ĐỘNG, with another thin border of dark blue enamel, the reverse is plain, on a red and blue striped pentagonal ribbon, with one star on the ribbon.
This Order was established by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1950. It is currently an award of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
This Order is conferred upon civilians, military personnel, foreigners, and organizations in recognition of outstanding achievements in creative fields, labour or construction. It can be awarded posthumously.
Individual recipients of this award must have received the II Class Medal of the Labour Order and the National Emulation Fighter title, have created an invention or scientific work at the state level, or demonstrated outstanding devotion to an organization.
Organizational recipients of this award must have received the II Class Medal of the Labour Order and the Excellent Labour Collective or Determined-to-Win Unit title for 5 consecutive years, and the Emulation Flag 3 times or the Government's Emulation Flag 2 times, or have had outstanding, unexpected achievements.
The III Class Medal features 1 star on the ribbon.
