Physical Description
A Celtic cross with two crossed swords and a wreath in the quadrants of the arms, the obverse center bears a a medallion with the outline of the country of Vietnam between two palm branches joined at the bottom, with a banner on top of the map inscribed with QUOC-GIA LAO-TUONG (Reward of the State), the reverse center is plain, on an ornate suspension with a red and yellow striped ribbon.
History
This medal was conferred upon Vietnamese and foreign civilians, military personnel, troops and military organizations in recognition of courageous service in the face of the enemy.
It was awarded in 4 levels, which were represented by ribbon decorations:
1) Armed Forces - Gallantry Cross with Palm
2) Corps - Gallantry Cross with Gold Star
3) Division - Gallantry Cross with Silver Star
4) Regiment/Brigade - Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star
The obverse inscription translates to "Reward of the State".
