Physical Description and Item Details


A Vietnamese Gallantry Cross - Blackened bronze, 38.5 mm x 58.5 mm inclusive of its dual dragons suspension, bronze star for citation at the Brigade and Regiment level on its original ribbon, extremely fine. Footnote: Awarded for valour of heroic conduct while fighting the enemy.

History


This medal was conferred upon Vietnamese and foreign civilians, military personnel, troops and military organizations in recognition of courageous service in the face of the enemy.

It was awarded in 4 levels, which were represented by ribbon decorations:

1) Armed Forces - Gallantry Cross with Palm
2) Corps - Gallantry Cross with Gold Star
3) Division - Gallantry Cross with Silver Star
4) Regiment/Brigade - Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star

The obverse inscription translates to "Reward of the State".
