History

This Order was instituted by King Carol II in 1935, but was replaced by the Order of St. George in 1940.

The Order was conferred upon Romanian civilians and military personnel for service to the King. It was awarded to men in four classes and to women in three classes. It could also be awarded with swords from 1937-1940.

The IV Class Cross was only awarded to men.
