A circular medal constructed of platinum, the obverse bears the image of two infants, with the inscription MINISTERIO DE EDUCATION NACIONAL MUTUALIDAD ESCOLAR, with arabesque detail and a crown at the top, the reverse bears the inscription PRAECOGITATI MALI MULLISICTUS VENIT, with a loop for suspension, on a red and yellow striped ribbon.
The medal was conferred in recognition of extraordinary service in the dissemination of education.
The medal was designed by the sculptor Marian Benlliure.
The Platinum Medal was made the highest grade in 1952.
