A circular medal constructed of bronze, the obverse bears the image of a patient in surgery with a doctor and a nurse, with an open ended wreath of laurel and oak at the bottom and the inscription CRUZ ROJA ESPANOLA at the top and the inscription PERSEVERANCIA FORTALEZA CARIDAD at the bottom right, the reverse bears a Geneva cross topped with a royal crown, and the inscription PREMIO A LA CONSTANCIA, on a red and yellow striped ribbon.
