A four armed cross with ornately detailed arms with white and red enamel, with a sword in each of the quadrants between the arms, with a central medallion with the inscription CANADA DE LA CRUZ, the reverse bears the inscription C.V DIA 24 DE AGOSTO DE 1837, with an ornate suspension of a laurel wreath with a white enamel ribbon with the inscription VILLAR DE LOS NAVARROS, on a blue and white striped ribbon.
The cross was conferred upon the participants of the Battle of Navarre.
The battle took place on August 24, 1837 during the First Carlist War. The Carlists took many prisoners, including brigadier Ramon Solano and 1500 infantrymen. 400 of those infantrymen were forced to join the Carlist army. 1245 prisoners were badly wounded and taken to the towns of Herrera de los Navarros and Villar de los Navarros where they were stripped naked and their possessions were taken. On August 25, the Carlist army left Villar de los Navarros with the prisoners.
