The Cross for Military Fidelity was instituted in Spain by King Ferdinand VII in recognition of all the royalist military personnel who fought against the Constitutional government between 1820 and 1823.

The Cross was authorized in Gold, Silver and Bronze. The Gold Cross was awarded to Generals, the Silver Cross to Officers, and the Bronze Cross to enlisted men.

The Cross was authorized with two different models. The first model was awarded to those who fought between March 1820 and June 1822; this model features a laurel wreath between the arms. The second model, without the laurel wreath, was awarded to the royalist military personnel who fought between July 1822 and February 1823.

The first model features an obverse inscription that translates to "The King to the Military Fidelity," and a reverse inscription that could be translated to "Ferdinand VII to the Defenders of Religion and the Throne, in Heroic and Eminent Grade."

The second model features the same obverse inscription, and a reverse inscription that could be translated to "Ferdinand VII to the Defenders of Religion and the Throne."
