History

The Medal for Irún was established in Spain by the regency of Maria Christina on June 13, 1837. It was conferred upon the British and Spanish forces which took part at the recovery of the city of Irún, previously taking by Carlist supports, on May 17, 1837.

The Medal was authorized with three grades. The I Class Medal with trophy of arms suspension was awarded to Officers, the II Class Medal was awarded to NCOs, while the III Class Medal without enamels was awarded to the troops.
