History

The Cross for Aranjuez was instituted in Spain by Royal Decree of May 30, 1816. It was conferred upon the troops under commandad of General Venegas who fought French invaders in the Royal Palace on August 5, 1809, preventing them from crossing and taking the Tagus.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "Action in Aranjuez August 5, 1809," and it has a plain reverse.
