History

The Cross of Rosas was founded in Spain by royal decree of May 2, 1821. It was awarded in recognition of the constancy and courage of the members of the Garrison of Rosas who, led by Don Ramón O'Daly, defended the castle of Santísima Trinidad against a French army on 7, 12, and 23 of November, 1808.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that could be translated to "I Defended it with Courage," and a reverse inscription that could be translated to "Ferdinand VII to the defenders of Rosas."
