History

The Medal for Tamames was founded in Spain by Ferdinand VII on July 2, 1815. It was conferred upon the members of the Spanish army commanded by Martin Carrera who defeated the invading French troops under General Marchand at the battle of Tamames on October 18, 1809.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "He Won in Tamames October 18, 1809," and a plain reverse.
