History

The Star of Lucena was founded in Spain by King Fernando VII in recognition of services rendered by the Bishop Don Fernando Ramirez de Luque, Brigadier Don Antonio Ortiz Repiro, Colonel Don Francisco Polo Valenzuela, and instructor Don Francisco Asis de la Carrera, who displayed an extraordinary service in Lucena in 1810 in spite of the risk of their lives.

The Star features an obverse inscription that translates to "Hill of Capitulation," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Loyalty Rewarded by Ferdinand VII Lucena September 25, 1810."
