History


The Civil Order of Maria Victoria (Orden Civil de Maria Victoria) was established by the regency of Amado I on July 7, 1871. It was awarded to Spaniards and foreign citizens in recognition of a wide spectrum of distinguished services within the public sphere.

The grades of the Order were Grand Cross, I Class Commander, and II Class Cross.

The Order was disbanded after the beginning of the Spanish First Republic on May 7, 1873.

The color of the ribbon indicates the services rendered by the recipient.

The ribbon colors include:

Golden yellow for merit in medicine
White for merit in theology
Red for lawful merit
Purple for merit in pharmaceutical practices
Light blue for merit in arts and diplomacy
Indigo blue for merit in the physical and natural science
Royal blue and black for merit within the sphere of Industrial Schools and the trade of Arts and Crafts
Pink for merit in the Fine Arts
Royal blue and pink for merit in Architecture and Civil Construction
Royal blue and purple for merit in Forestry Engineering
Royal blue and orange for merit in Mining Engineering
Black and sea green for merit in Boating and Shipbuilding
White and green for merit in primary education
