This medal is awarded to recognize individuals who are members of the Home Guard and have rendered volunteer service for an extended period of time.

The grade associated with 20 years of service was not established until November 5, 1968.

The reverse of this badge is often stamped "SPORR 925S", and the stamp has many varieties.
