History

The Commemorative Medal for the Italy Campaign was created on April 1, 1953. It replaced the Commemorative Medal of the War of 1939-1945 with "ITALIE" ribbon clasp.

It was awarded to the French Expeditionary Forces who participated in operations in Italy from December 1, 1943 to July 25, 1944.

It is uncertain when the Medal ceased to be awarded.

The obverse inscription translates to “French Expeditionary Corps of Italy,” “French Republic.”
