History

The Commemorative Medal for the Operations of the United Nations in Korea was created on January 8, 1952. It was awarded to French military personnel who served in the Korean theatre for at least two months. This requirement was waived for military personnel who had been wounded, and for those who were cited for the Cross for Exterior Theatres of Operations. The Medal could also be awarded to foreigners who had fought under French command.

The reverse inscription translates to “French Commemorative Medal for the Operations of the United Nations in Korea, French Republic.”

The United Nations created their own commemorative medal for this conflict in 1950. See United Nations Korea Medal INT160 in the Medals & Decorations of International Decorations.
