History

The Medal for Upper Silesia was created on September 22, 1921 by the Inter-Allied Government.

It was awarded to Officers, soldiers, and civil servants in recognition of at least two months of service in the Upper Silesia region from 1920-1922. A medal was also awarded to Italian and British troops.

The obverse inscription translates to “Upper Silesia,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Inter-Allied Commission of the Government and Plebiscite.”

There may be additional versions which vary in size or composition. There is also an unofficial “HAUTE-SILESIE” clasp that may be worn with the Medal.
