A circular medal constructed of silver. The obverse bears the bearded bust of Duke Friedrich I, encompassed with the inscription "FRIEDRICH HERZOG VON ANHALT" (Frederick Duke of Anhalt). The Faithful Labour Medal was founded by Duke Friedrich I on April 29, 1895. It was awarded to labourers who had demonstrated patriotism and merit by working for 25 uninterrupted years in their chosen industry. Serving within the military was not seen as an interruption. In 1896, Anhalt and Prussia agreed that Prussian citizens could accept the award. The medal was non-returnable.
