The Golden Wedding Medal, 1879 was founded by King Wilhelm I to commemorate the golden anniversary of his wedding to Queen Augusta.
The II Class Medal was conferred upon officers and officials. 175 medals were minted, and 25 were awarded on July 16, 1879.
The exterior ring containing the inscription is not enamelled.
