Physical Description and Item Details


An eight-sided star, constructed of silver wire embroidery. In the centre is a silver Maltese cross with a sequin border. The cross’ centre medallion features a green cross, the medallion ring features silver sequin bordering. The reverse is smooth and enforced with cardboard.
As of 1802, the star was constructed of silver and gold wire embroidery, with the star’s rays being in gold. Additionally, it featured a medallion ring made of dark green velvet with the inscription ‘IUNXIT AMICUS AMOR 1755’ (‘love connects friends’) in gold.

History


The Order of St. Joachim was instituted by Prince Christian Franz. The purpose of the order was to aid the needy of all religious denominations.
