Freikorps Roßbach was established by Leutnant Roßbach on November 16, 1918. In January of 1919, Roßbach instituted a faithful service badge for his men. Every member of the Freikorps who had served for at least three month was eligible. The badge was worn on the upper right arm. It was manufactured by Sedlaczek, Berlin. Approximately 400 awardings have been verified.
The badge is in the form of a traditional hunting symbol, the "Hubertus" symbol. It features a deer skull with a cross on top of its head and between the antlers. The cross features a square aureola.
The badge was hollow-stamped and silvered. Gilt badges have been encountered as well, but their significance remains unknown.
