Hungary, People's Republic. An Order of the Flag of the People's Republic of Hungary, IV Class, c.1960
(Magyar Népkőztársaság Zászlórendjének IV. fokozata). Instituted in 1956. Three-piece construction, in silver gilt with red, white, light green and dark green enamels, the pin maker marked "PV", along with being hallmarked with a bird's head with a number "2" (900 silver fineness) to its right, measuring 59.2 mm (w) x 59 mm (h), vertical pinback, tiny chip evident in the red enamels at the upper left of the flag, otherwise the enamels are intact, near extremely fine.
This Order was conferred in recognition of merit within a range of civil fields, and for meritorious civil services that fostered peace in Hungary and co-operation with other nations.
The Order was amended in 1963 and 1976. In 1963 the IV Class and V Class grades were abolished. While in 1976 a green enamelled laurel wreath was added to the III Class.
The Order was permanently abolished in 1991.
The IV Class was conferred a total of 20 times.
