History


This Order was awarded to civilians, and members of the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, who had rendered meritorious service within the defence of Hungary, in ensuring public order, and increasing the standing of the Hungarian Armed Forces.

There are two main versions of this Order.

The awards conferred from 1953 to 1956 have the 1949-1956 emblem of the Hungarian People’s Republic on the obverse.

The awards conferred from 1957-1989 emblem of the Hungarian People’s Republic on the obverse.

The medals awarded with the 1949-1956 emblem were conferred upon 177 recipients, while the medals awarded with the 1957-1989 emblem were conferred upon 1574 recipients.
