The Military Medal (1945) was established by Grand Duchess Charlotte by Grand Ducal Decree on October 30, 1945. It is conferred upon military personnel, Luxembourgian and foreign, in recognition of outstanding military achievement. It is the highest military decoration in Luxembourg. The Military Medal has been conferred upon General of the Army, Dwight Eisenhower on August 3, 1945 and Prime Minister Winston Churchill on July 14, 1946.
The Bronze Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Charlotte, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg."
