The KXIII Surveying Medal was established by Royal Decree in 1926. It was awarded to the members of the KXIII Submarine who served on the 1926 observation mission to Surabaya via the Panama Canal.

The Silver Medal features a reverse inscription that translates to "Government Surveying Commission, Pendulum Observations." A total of 37 were awarded.
