The Medal of Recognition for Antwerp was established in 1833. It was awarded to those who defended the city of Antwerp against the French during the Siege of Antwerp in 1832. It was issued non-wearable, but it was often rendered wearable by recipients and worn on an orange ribbon.
The Gold Medal was awarded to the King, members of the Ministry of Defence, and two princes, the Silver Medal was awarded to Officers, and the Bronze Medal was awarded to Non-Commissioned Officers and enlisted men. The obverse transcription translates to "whatever falls, loyalty stands firm."
A total of 193 Silver Medals were awarded. There may be additional versions that vary in size.
