Large Neck Medal for Zeal. GOLD. 51 mm. 72.28 gm. By Π.Ì. Diakov 673.3 (R3). Alexander II head r., signed ‘Π.Ì.’ on truncation / Legend around: за усерліе – ‘For Zeal’, outer triple band, beaded inner circle. On ribbon. Very rare original medal

History


This medal was awarded to citizens of the Russian Empire for "showing zeal towards the state in civilian and military sectors".

The 1863 issue features the Tsar facing right.

The obverse of this medal translates to "ALEXANDER II BY THE GRACE OF GOD EMPEROR AND AUTOCRAT OF ALL RUSSIAS" and the reverse translates to "FOR ZEAL".
