History

Awarded by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, this Order is conferred upon Slovenian citizens, foreign Heads of State, organizations, associations, and legal persons, in recognition of contributions to the development of culture, economics, science, society, and politics, as well as, for outstanding service resulting in the advancement of prosperity and sovereignty.

This Order may also be known as the "Order for Exceptional Merit."
