History

Awarded by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, this Order was initially intended for Officers and Commanders of the Slovenian Armed Forces for meritorious service in peace and war.

This Order is conferred upon individuals in recognition extraordinary distinction in the development and growth of the Slovenian Armed Forces, as well as, in recognition of exceptional merit during wartime.

When individuals are being recognized for service rendered in wartime, the decoration they are conferred includes a pair of crossed swords behind the medal.

The reverse of the medal is engraved with the full name of the recipient and the year of conferral.

The III Class is conferred upon senior military officials and Senior Officers or upon members of the Ministry of Defence for 20 years of service.
