The Pacific Star was instituted by King George VI in May 1945. The Bronze Star is awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth forces in recognition of 1 day or more of operation service in the Pacific theater of war between December 8, 1941, and August 15, 1945. Service curtailed by death or disability, as well as service recognized by another award or a mention in despatches also qualified for the award of the Star.
The clasp “BURMA” was authorized for wear with the Star. A silver rosette was worn on the ribbon to denote the award of the clasp when the ribbon was worn alone.
