The South Vietnam Campaign Medal was established by the government of South Vietnam on May 12, 1964, to reward Australian, New Zealand, and other allied forces for 6 months or more of service in Vietnam since March 1, 1961, until 1973. Service curtailed by death, wounds, or capture also qualified for the award of the Bronze Medal.
The clasp "1960-" was always issued with the award, and an emblem inscribed with "60-" was worn on the ribbon when the ribbon was worn alone.
There are 3 versions of the Medal. The first was manufactured in Vietnam and is unnamed. The second version was manufactured in Australia and features a named inscription of the recipient, while the third version was struck in the United States, is also named, and features a ring suspens ... ion.
