The later version of the windjacket was introduced in 1942. It was initially only intended for mountain troops, but was later worn by all units. It is reversible, white on one side, brown or grey on the other side.
The jacket has a lace-up front with four eyelets, which is covered by a flap with three buttons. Uniquely for this garment there are three chest pockets that are placed horizontally. They have buttoned flaps and the two outer pockets have pleats, while the centre pocket comes without pleats and is larger. There are also two back pockets. The jacket has a draw string waist and an attached draw string hood. There is a reinforced button on the front that is used to attach a “tail piece” under the crotch. The shoulder and neck parts are also reinforced by a yoke.
