The reed-green Panzer Protective Jacket was initially introduced for armored reconnaissance units on May 5, 1941, but was later adopted by all armored units. It was used as a working dress, a summer field dress, and for camouflage purposes, since the regular black Panzer clothes were good for hiding oil stains, but were very conspicuous.
This reed-green drill jacket is similar to the black field dress, but with a few differences. It has a large pocket on the left breast with a buttoned flap. There are two rows of buttons on the right side, so that it could be closed with the inner or the outer row.
There was also a version made of brown-grey drill without a breast pocket that was used exclusively in the summer.
