History

A round disc (Armscheibe) with a Siegrune was worn by the DJ equivalent officer ranks, both non-commissioned and commissioned. It was worn on the upper left sleeve.

It is unknown when this was first introduced, but unofficially it was done before 1933. Standardization was achieved in 1935.

Ranks equivalent to NCO (non-commissioned officer) ranks wore a disc in their respective Oberbann colour. Oberbann 1 had a white rune on red, 2 had a black rune on yellow, 3 had a white rune on green, 4 had a white rune on dark blue, 5 had a white rune on black, and 6 had a black rune on white.

These ranks included Jungenschaftsführer, Jungzugführer, and Fähnleinführer.
If a DJ member of one of these ranks served on a Jungbann, Gebiet, or Reichsjugendführung (RFJ) Staff, he wore a white rune on carmine.

This was in effect between 1933 and 1936. In April 1936, the Oberbann system was discontinued. From then on, Jungenschaftsführer, Jungzugführer, and Fähnleinführer wore a white rune on red.

The disc had a tan square field, which was left exposed for all NCO ranks, but folded under for lesser ranks.

After 1936, these ranks were distinguishable via the use of lanyards. However, it is unknown which, if any, were the distinguishing insignia prior to 1936.
