Constructed of a white cotton blend, the obverse bearing a central red machine-embroidered Algiz rune, within a green and white machine-embroidered oval border, unmarked, measuring 50 mm (w) x 58 mm (h), in unissued and very fine condition.
Every member of the HJ who successfully completed a six week course was qualified to wear the basic medical insignia.
The Feldscher-HJ (Medical Hitler Youth) ceased to exist as a separate unit with the beginning of the war. However, medical insignia were still given out to those members of the HJ specialising in medical training.
All Medical HJ insignia were worn on the lower left sleeve.
The 1st pattern Medical Personnel Insignia was introduced in 1933. It shows a white cross on a round red field. It was discontinued with the introduction of the 2nd pattern.
The 2nd pattern was introduced in late 1934. It is oval and shows a yellow Aesculapius snake and staff on a dark blue field.
The 3rd pattern was introduced in September 1938. It is oval and shows a red life rune on a white field.
Feldschere of a Gefolgschaft wore the same 3rd pattern insignia, but with a green and white border.
Feldschere of a Bann had a red border.
Feldschere of a Gebiet had a black border.
