History

This badge is a slight variation on the one that was used to display membership in the Signal HJ before 1936. Afterwards, with the introduction of HJ branch colours, it became an achievement based insignia.

It was awarded after successfully completing the first year in the Signal HJ and passing all exams. The badge is oval and shows a black bolt of lightning on a green field. It was worn on the lower left sleeve.
