History

In general, the uniforms of the male Hitler Youth members consisted of a top, a neckerchief and woggle – but a tie for officers –, bottoms, a belt, knee socks, and shoes or boots.

The service shoes were worn by different members of the Hitler Youth at different times. They were brown low-quarter shoes, and worn according to a regulation from 1933 by general members with grey knee socks during the summer months (April 15 to October 14). A regulation from March 7, 1935 stated that white knee socks were authorized for wear by specific districts. However, it is unknown which districts those were.

A regulation from September 30, 1938 stated that grey knee socks and brown low-quarter shoes were now the year round footwear for general members and junior NCOs. Low-quarters were also a choice with the walking-out dress (Ausgehanzug) and the dress uniform (Gesellschaftsanzug), but in black. This included "medium-ranked leaders", however, it is unknown which ranks qualified as such.

Reddish-brown low-quarters with five eyelets were a choice for leader ranks, stated in a regulation from November 6, 1936.

Members of the Naval HJ wore brown low-quarter shoes with their dress uniform (Großer Dienstanzug) during the summer months, complete with grey knee stockings.
