History

In general, the uniforms of the male Hitler Youth members consisted of a top, a neckerchief and woggle – but a tie for officers –, bottoms, a belt, knee socks, and shoes or boots.

The winter blouse was introduced in a regulation from October 15, 1937. It had been worn by the members of the German Youngsters since late 1934, and was now adopted by the older members of the Hitler Youth. It was then worn by all male members.

It is a dark blue unlined pull-over blouse with a fall-down collar. A front slash features four buttons to close it. There are two pleated patch breast pockets with a buttoned flap. The cuffs are reinforced and secured by two buttons. It was worn inside the trousers.

The buttons are matte silver-coloured.

The winter blouse of the Aviation HJ members was identical, except that after 1938 all items worn during the winter months (October 15 to April 14) or during flying exercises were of air force blue colour.
