In bronzed aluminum; maker marked “Hoffstätter, Bonn” on the reverse; measuring 70.09 mm; weighing 31.9 grams; light to moderate oxidation on the medal; in overall better than fine condition.
The award was instituted by Oberst Hans Simon. However, details about the institution are not known. The award was given with an accompanying document.
The plaque is in the form of a medal with a raised edge. Around the edge an inscription reads: for special merits. The medal shows a crest depicting an attacking eagle being illuminated by searchlights. On both sides at the top is the number 2, once mirrored.
The reverse shows a field with four searchlights on the ground and two planes in the air, with the date "1941" at the bottom.
The German title of this award is "Plakette des Flakscheinwerfer-Regiments 2".
