A 1936 Berlin Olympics “Für Verdienstvolle Mitarbeit bei den Olympischen Spielen/For meritus cooperation at the olympic games” medal; in silvered metal (magnetic); on loop for suspension; correct replacement ribbon; measuring 37mm in diameter; 18.4 grams; near extremely fine condition.

History


The Medal was instituted on July 31, 1936, and was conferred upon individuals who helped organize and plan the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

The Medal was not intended to be conferred upon individuals who competed in the actual games.

The Medal could be awarded to German men and women, as well as to foreigners.

The Medal could not be conferred upon individuals who had already received the I or II Class German Olympic Games Decoration.

A total of 54,915 medals were created.

The reverse inscription translates to "For the meritorious participation in the 1936 Olympic Games".
