Lippe-Detmold
Lippe-Detmold was a historical state in Germany. It was located between the Weser River and the southeast part of the Teutoburg forest. The historical state was ruled The House of Lippe. The House of Lippe was established in 1123.
The family was split into the counties of f Lippe-Detmold, Lippe-Brake and Lippe-Alverdissen in 1613. The Lippe-Alverdissen line renamed into the Schaumburg-Lippe of the House of Lippe. After the other lines became extinct, their territories were inherited by either Lippe-Detmold or Schaumburg-Lippe.
In 1789 became Lippe-Detmold to the Principality of Lippe. After the First World War, the principality of Lippe became a free state in the federation of the German Reich.
The Free State of Lippe existed from 1919 to 1947 and Detmold was the capital city.
