The Palestine Medal was instituted by King Faruk in 1948. The Medal is awarded to personnel of the Egyptian armed forces in recognition of service during the 1948-1949 campaign of the Arab-Isreali war.
A clasp which features an Arabic inscription which translates to "Palestine Battles" and a brass lotus blossom emblem are authorized for wear on the ribbon. However, the requirements regarding the award of the clasp and emblem are uncertain.
There are 2 versions of the Medal. The first version features an obverse profile of Kind Faruk surrounded by Arabic script which translates to "Medal of Palestine" and a reverse design of 3 Egyptian soldiers with the Islamic and Christian dates "1948-1347" written in Arabic. In 1953, following the 1952 revolution and the abolition of the Monarch, the Medal was altered to feature the reverse of the first version as the obverse design and a blank reverse.
