Grand Cross Badge, First Class. in solid 22k GOLD and enamels, hallmarked and maker marked LATTES on reverse, ball finials on star points are enamelled, 61.5 mm x 80 mm inclusive of crown suspension, full original sash. Beautifully made, intricate design, high relief in wreathed centepiece, better than extremely fine.
The Order of Ismail was instituted between 1915 and 1922 and is named in commemoration of the Viceroy and Khedive of Egypt, Ismail Pasha, who reigned between 1863 and 1979 and who constructed the Suez Canal. The Order of Ismail is bestowed upon Egyptian nationals and foreigners in recognition of chivalrous and honourable services provided to the throne. The Order became obsolete following the establishment of the Republic of Egypt in 1953.
