A heavy and impressive star in silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, assay marked, national lotus flower marked denoting Egyptian manufacture, and date marked on the reverse cartouche, measuring 78 mm (w) x 77 mm (h), strong horizontal pinback. extremely fine.
The Order of Istiklal, or the Order of Independence, was established in 1955. The Order was presented to personnel who aided in the overthrow of the Monarchy and the establishment of the Republic. The Order was conferred in 3 classes, but it became obsolete in 1965.
