Order of the Military Star of King Fouad I - Multi-piece construction, silver gilt and enamels, 43.2 mm x 46.8 mm, bar suspension with original ribbon, light contact, near extremely fine.Footnote: The Order of the Military Star of Fouad I (Fu'ad I) (Nigam al-Askariyal al-Kawkab al-Fu'ad al-Awwal ) was founded December 6, 1919 by King Fouad I. A military decoration awarded in one class only, to officers of the military forces for services in the face of the enemy, for merit or for distinguished services in the field, and who were mentioned in despatches. Further services were recognized by the award of a bar. Modified and retained by the republic in late 1953.
The Order of the Military Star of King Fouad I was initially established by King Fouad I on December 6, 1919, by Royal Order as the "Order of the Military Star of Sultan Fouad I. In 1922, the honour was re-designated as the "Order of the Military Star of King Fouad I." The Order was conferred by the King in I Class to Officers in recognition of a mention in despatches or for meritorious and distinguished services performed in the battlefield or in the face of an enemy.
A clasp was authorized for wear on the ribbon to denote additional awards of the Star.
The Star was also presented with a certificate.
There are multiple versions of the Star which vary by composition.
