The Israel Defence Force "Crossing Battalion" (Gdud Tzlikha) Yom Kippur War Commemorative Medal is believed to have been awarded in commemoration of the efforts of the 605th Battalion of the Combat Engineers Corp; who helped the armoured and paratroop corps cross the Canal on October 16, 1973. However, more research is necessary.
The Medal features a Hebrew inscription on the obverse which translates to "Crossing Battalion Yom Kippur War Crossing of the Suez Canal 16.10.1973", as well as on the reverse which translates to "And All Israel Passed Over on Dry Ground."
