History

The Jordan Service Medal (Midalat al-Kidmat al-Urduni) was privately instituted and then later approved by King Hussein. The Medal was awarded to British military and police personnel in recognition of service in Jordan and in the Jordanian military forces between 1946 and 1957. Military and police personnel who assisted in protecting Jordan during the emergency and crisis of 1958 were also eligible for the award.
