History
The Order of the Star of Jordan (Al Kawkab Al Ordani) was instituted by King Abdullah in July of 1949 in commemoration of Jordan's independence. The Order is awarded in 5 Classes to members of the Hashemites royal family, prime ministers, ministers, under-secretaries, and other personnel in recognition of outstanding civil or military meritorious service. Foreigners may also be eligible for the award of the Order. The Order has an associated Medal.
The II Class Grand Officer is worn from a neck ribbon and is awarded along with a Breast Star to ministers and under-secretaries. The Grand Officer features Arabic script on the obverse which translates to "Abdullah bin Al Hussein Order of the Star" along with the class of the award and date "1366" which corresponds to 1949.
Recipients of the II Class Grand Officer are entitled to the post-nominals GOSJ.
There may be additional versions of the II Class Grand Officer which vary by composition.
There are known to be multiple ribbon designs authorized for wear with the Order.
