History

The Sacred Al-Qud Order is believed to have been instituted by the Palestine Liberation Order in 1988 as the highest Palestinian award. The Order may also be known as the Sacred Order of Jerusalem, the Grand Collar of the State of Palestine, or Order of the Star of Palestine. More research is needed. The Order is awarded to Palestinian activists, nationalists, humanitarian workers, intellectuals, and martyrs in recognition of aid, hospitality, tolerance, or other services which aid the Palestinian cause on both local and international levels. Foreign heads of state and political prisoners may also be eligible for the award.

The Order may also be awarded posthumously.

The Order is worn from a neck ribbon.
